Busy Busy

The two weeks have been non-stop, it seems.

On June 3, Husband and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary.

We celebrated by having a family dinner (for the life of me, I can't remember what I made), going out to ice cream, and exchanging gifts.

I got him these awesome his and hers keychains from Spiffing Jewelry. He loved them, especially because it's a Star Wars quote.

He got me chocolate and a necklace charm (which still hasn't gotten here). Those chocolate bars were gone within 48 hours. I regret nothing.

Aren't we adorable? Yeah.

I started two 30 Day Fitness challenges. One for squats and one for planks. I am currently on day 8, a day behind. It's all good, though, because my butt looks amazing. I'm not going to share those photos, don't worry.

One of my best friends is coming out for a vacation in August. I am seriously so excited. I haven't seen him since beforeHusband  and I were married. It's gonna be great.

On the 15th, our Sophie girl turned two. She got a bunch of stuff for her birthday, including a new crate, a mattress, a new collar and harness, a brush, some treats, and a new toy. His name is Bobo.

Then, as everyone knows, the 16th was Father's Day. I plan on writing a separate post for that, but I just wanted to share this little gem with everyone now:

Yup. That's my 26 year old husband. The Dinosaur King.

Between all of that, I've cleaned, ran errands, played with my babies, gone on walks, paid bills, made stuff, cooked, baked, and washed more laundry than I care to remember.

I've also bought a lot of stuff. A bunch of new makeup (most of it on sale or reasonably priced, post to come later), and some new clothes ($80 worth of clothing for me and Sper, and I only spent $30).

We have been feeling great, getting healthy, and loving life at 314.

Let's Talk Makeup

So, when I was in...sixth grade, I believe, I started wearing makeup.

Nothing too crazy. Just thick black eyeliner and about a pound of mascara.

I think I started doing it because my dad moved us out of the city and into a town smaller than my old school. (Exaggeration, I know.) But he never stopped me, so I just kept wearing it.

As I got older, I started listening to new music, and copying the band members' looks.

I stuck with the black eyeliner and mascara mostly, but I would occasionally play with eyeshadow, as well. Red and gray were regular colors.

That's me at 16, looking somewhat dead. With duck lips. This was a dark time for my selfies.

As I got older, I learned a little more about applying my makeup. I learned about which brands were better, which would make my face break out, and which were the best for blending. I also learned that red and gray weren't the only colors I could use. (But that didn't stop me from using them!)

That's me at 18. Very simple black liner and mascara. Much better looking, I think.

As the years passed, I learned different tricks, used a bunch of different colors, brands, and styles.

And then I got busy. I didn't really care about makeup anymore. I went months without wearing it. Makeup, and the time to apply it, was something that was reserved for family pictures and super special occasions.

Then, I would start doing my makeup during nap time.

The caption on this photo literally said: "Got bored. Did my makeup for the first time in months." This was September 2012. The next time I did my make up was for our Thanksgiving and Christmas photos...in November.

After the new year, I can count on one hand the amount of times I did my makeup before we moved to 314. 3 times.

However...in the month since our move, my makeup has been applied at least twice a week. Sometimes, it is just mascara. But then sometimes I get inspired by other beauty bloggers (Maria-Isabel over at Agape Love Designs is one of my biggest inspirations), and my friends, and I experiment.

In the last month, I have had fun.

I am remembering how much I love doing my makeup. How much fun it is to tweak my appearance with a little black pencil, and how different a little color makes me look.

I think I am going to do this more. I'm excited.
